Google Chrome review and screenshots

Google Chrome is an open source browser based on Webkit and powered by Google Gears. It was accidentally announced prematurely on September 1, 2008 and slated for release the following day. It premiers originally on Windows only, with Mac and Linux versions to come later.

Features include:

* Tabbed browsing where each tab gets its own process, leading to faster and more stable browsing. If one tab crashes, the whole browser doesn’t go down with it
* A distinct user interface that places tabs on top of the browser window instead of right below the address bar
* An “incognito” mode that lets you browse the web in complete privacy because it doesn’t record any of your activity
* A new JavaScript engine built from the ground up for speed
* Malware and phishing lists that automatically update themselves and warn you of bad websites
* A default homepage that displays your most commonly used sites and other personalized information

Steve Jobs to speak at WWDC 2008, no way he'll talk about new iPhones

On June 9th, Steve Jobs will be speaking at WWDC. Plans are vague right now, but we understand he will give two lectures on Sudoku, a shirt-folding seminar, and will discuss the possibilities of using a perpetual motion machine to replace the engine in his 1986 Volvo. Afterwards, every developer gets a hug and a low five. It's unlikely he'll discuss the 3G iPhone.

Jack Kirby's O.M.A.C. (???)

n one of his last major works, Jack Kirby, co-creator of Captain America, The X-Men, The Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, and many others, envisions a 1984-inspired dystopia.
The protagonist is corporate nobody Buddy Blank, who is changed by a satellite called Brother Eye into the super-powered OMAC (One Man Army Corps). Enlisted by the Global Peace Agency, who police the world using pacifist means, OMAC battles the forces of conformity in this short-lived but legendary series that serves as a companion to the JACK KIRBY'S FOURTH WORLD OMNIBUS series. How a Photo becomes a WSJ hedcut

The Wall Street Journal runs dot drawings of personalities, rather than photos. Photos are used as references to create these illustrations. ‘Hedcuts’, as they are called are dot drawings composed of tiny ink dots and lines illustrated by artists using pen and ink, not computers. Don't miss the example here.

The Best Pizza in Rome

Pizza may have been invented somewhere else, but in Rome it's hard to walk a block without encountering it in one form or another. You'll see it in bakeries, usually made without cheese—either pizza bianca (just olive oil and salt) or pizza rossa (with tomato sauce). Many small shops specialize in pizza al taglio (by the slice), priced by the etto (100 grams, about 1/4 pound), according to the kind of topping. These places are great for a snack on the go any time of day. (More...)
